On 31 January 2017, Asia Pacific Center for Ecohydrology (APCE-UNESCO), the Center for Limnology-LIPI and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia held a joint seminar at the APCE Cibinong Building on the Strengthening of Indonesia-Malaysia Research Cooperation for Water Disaster Mitigation Sector attended by lecturers and researchers. This meeting aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of research, especially for the field of water-related disaster mitigation involving four institutions, namely APCE-UNESCO, Research Center for Limnology-LIPI, BMKG and UTM (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia). Furthermore, from this meeting will be signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) and cooperation agreement (MoA) so that can be achieved joint activities in order to share information about the technical aspects and methodology of the latest research used in each institution, sharing data and knowledge between researchers/students of Indonesia and Malaysia, and most importantly the identification of priority research topics that can be undertaken together in 2018.
Director of APCE, Dr. Ignatius DA Sutapa said that the first join seminar of the three institutions of APCE-UNESCO, LIPI-Limnology Research Center and UTM as a good start of the APCE-UNESCO cooperation process with UTM considering Asia Pacific is developing in all sectors, economic sectors, politics, potential investment issues to build.
Next researchers from APCE, LIPI, BMKG and lecturers from UTM delivered a presentation at the end of the event followed by discussion and preparation of MOU-MOA UTM with LIPI and APCE. (Yovita)
